Taku River Tlingit First Nation

Joint Visioning Process

The Taku River Tlingit First Nation Joint Visioning Process (JVP) was a trilateral process undertaken collaboratively by the Taku River Tlingit First Nation, British Columbia, and Canada. Through this initiative, the Parties strengthened and deepened existing government-to-government relationships and expanded the scope of their joint work, while the TRTFN carried out an extensive planning process to clarify the Nation’s vision for 20+ years in the future.

The importance of increased unity and reconciliation in Atlin, BC emerged as a priority from the TRTFN Clan Directors Council and became both a central pillar of the TRTFN Vision and a parallel stream of work for the JVP team throughout the two-year process.

This work involved planning and hosting engagement sessions between Taku River Tlingit First Nation, the Province of British Columbia, and the Government of Canada; fostering increased collaboration with the Atlin Community Improvement District and other local representatives; and developing outreach and communication materials to support relationship-building and transparency.

The final deliverables of this work included a Final Report on the Joint Visioning Process, a Summary Report for Citizens, and a Staff Planning Toolkit to support implementation and next steps.
