Taku River Tlingit First Nation

Land Guardians Strategic Plan

Sa̱nala was hired to design and plan a two-day in-person strategic planning session to explore how Taku River Tlingit First Nation (TRTFN) Land Guardian members, along with representatives from Round River Conservation Studies, Takhu-Atlen Conservancy, the TRTFN Lands Manager, and TRTFN Leadership, envisioned the Land Guardian Program operating over the next three to five years.

The Sa̱nala team facilitated the two-day session, guiding strategic discussions on implementing the program’s vision, setting priorities, and developing a shared understanding of what a strong and well-executed program would look like. This process was supported by interviews with other Guardian Programs as well as an internal visioning session.

The engagement culminated in the finalization of the Haa Aaní Tulatín Strategic Plan 2023 — 2028 for the TRTFN Land Guardians Program, reflecting input from group discussions, interviews, and other engagements, and outlining the program’s vision, mission, goals and action items, along with an operational plan.
